Lost and Found

If you have lost or found a pet, follow the steps below.

In addition to found animals brought to the shelter, AAHS maintains a lost and found database for cats reported missing and found, and we can also provide information on how to find lost pets.  Call 706-353-2287 for more information.

If you need help finding the shelter in your area, call 706-353-2287.

2.  Notify your neighbors.  Distribute flyers describing your pet, with a photo if at all possible.

3.  Place an advertisement in your local paper - Lost and found ads are sometimes free.

4.  SEARCH for your pet.

Visit the Lost-A-Pet Foundation, The Center for Lost Pets, or call AAHS (706-353-2287) for detailed information on how to find your pet.

If you have found a pet:

1.  Notify your local shelter (see numbers above).

2.  Notify your neighbors.

In flyers and newspaper notices, it is generally recommended to withhold an identifying piece of information to ensure that any person reclaiming the animal is the true owner.  Some people who call may not have good intentions.

3.  Place an advertisement in your local paper - Lost and found ads are sometimes free.

4.  Be sure the animal is fed and sheltered.

If you are unable to make provisions for the safety of the animal, take the animal to your local shelter.  Domestic animals are not equipped to survive on their own.
