Part-Time Animal Technician

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated team player who is excited to make a difference in the lives of animals and people alike. The job of an Animal Technician is hard work filled with cleaning and sanitizing cages, changing litter boxes and treating animals for illness as well as helping to socialize animals. This can be immensely rewarding for the right individuals. 

 

Location:

The Zeus House, 1781 Mars Hill Road, Watkinsville, GA

 

Hours:

Must be available Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 9am-1pm and 5-5:30pm, and some holidays.  These hours are not flexible so please be sure you can work during all times listed before you apply. 

 

Duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Duties include animal care and cleaning, facility cleaning and maintenance, as well as minimal office work.

  • Will treat and care for shelter animals, including vaccinations, testing, and temperament evaluations.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma 
  • Some office skills required.

  • Excellent people and communication skills needed; must be tactful and compassionate in dealing with customers.

  • Must have some cat care experience and knowledge of cat behavior and handling; veterinary technician experience helpful but not required.

  • Must be able to lift 25lbs, 50lbs with assistance, and be able
    to work in an environment that includes cats, rabbits, birds, other small animals, dust, and cleaning 
    solutions.

  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take initiative and able to work independently
  • Must be able to spend time on your knees while cleaning bottom cages 
  • Must be able to change litter and come into contract with fecal matter � pregnant women should check with their doctor regarding the risk of Toxoplasmosis before applying

Compassionate individual with people and animal skills needed to work as Adoption Counselor.  Adoption Center staff is the heart and public face of AAHS.


Part-Time Adoption Counselor

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated team player who is excited to make a difference in the lives of animals and people alike. The job of an Adoption Counselor is hard work filled with cleaning and sanitizing cages, changing litter boxes and treating animals for illness as well as helping to socialize animals and match them with families. This can be immensely rewarding for the right individuals. 

 

Hours:

Tues-Thurs 9:00 am-7:00 pm, 30 hours

These hours are not flexible so please be sure you can work during all times listed before you apply. 

 

Duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Working with the public to help insure the best adoption match for families 
  • Evaluating adopters for their ability to provide adequate care for animals 
  • Answer adopters' questions regarding animal behavior and integration 
  • Daily animal care and cleaning, as well as facility cleaning and maintenance 
  • Treating and caring for animals, including giving vaccinations, administering meds, FeLV/FIV testing, and temperament evaluation and general health exams

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma 
  • Excellent people and customer service skills needed; must be tactful and compassionate in dealing with customers and able to train and direct volunteers and community service workers
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take initiative
  • Must have cat and other animal care experience; veterinary technician experience/medical experience helpful but not required 
  • Must be able to operate with little supervision and able to stick to a schedule 
  • Must be able to spend time on your knees while cleaning bottom cages 
  • Must be able to change litter and come into contract with fecal matter – pregnant women should check with their doctor regarding the risk of Toxoplasmosis before applying 
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs, 50lbs with assistance, and be able to work in an environment that includes cats, rabbits, birds, other small animals, dust, and cleaning solutions
